“The Fall in its first series, was one of the best reviewed TV shows of 2013. It is incredibly suspenseful storytelling, topped with a great cast including Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan,” Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to offer such a distinguished and entertaining show to our viewers around the world.”
The six-episode second season set in Belfast, Northern Ireland picks up with Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson (Anderson) on the trail of serial killer Paul Spector (Dornan). A personal link to Paul’s past opens up some clues for the detective, but provokes the killer and could destroy the whole investigation. The closer Gibson gets to her man, the more risks there are and the two engage in a psychological destructive battle.
The two characters never met during the five-episode first season, but that all could change in this new batch of episodes. The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi also stars.
Just a warning: You’re going to want to watch with the lights on and windows locked.
“The second series of this award-winning drama is sure to draw fans even further into the cat and mouse game between Stella Gibson and Paul Spector,” Cathy Payne, chief executive at Endemol Worldwide Distribution, said in a statement “With an incredibly talented cast and production team, we are excited for Netflix viewers to see the next installment“.
Next up for Anderson is a return to Hannibal where she’ll be a series regular. Dornan can next be seen heating up the screen as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey in theaters this February 13, 2015.
