After landing the key role of Christian Grey’s brother in “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Luke Grimes has continued his streak of key roles in high-profile pics.
Grimes has joined the cast of the indie drama “Freeheld” starring Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ellen Page and Michael Shannon.
Pete Sollett will direct with Ron Nyswaner penning the script.
Story follows a New Jersey car mechanic and her police detective girlfriend Laurel Hester who both battle to secure Hester’s pension benefits after she’s diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Grimes plays a secretly gay cop on the police force who, in solidarity with his colleague, comes out of the closet to support her fight against the local government for domestic partner rights.
Michael Shamberg, Stacy Sher, Ellen Page, Kelly Bush, James D. Stern, Richard Fischoff, Duncan Montgomery, Jack Selby and Cynthia Wade are producing.
Besides “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Grimes is also set to co-star with Bradley Cooper in “American Sniper” which bows this December as well as “Shangri-La Suite.”
He is repped by CAA and Darren Goldberg.
